Presenter/Facilitator: Gina Vergilio

Gina Vergilio is a senior manager, leader, consultant, and educator. Her extensive career includes experience in both the voluntary and private sectors across Canada. Since 2004, Gina has owned and operated G. Vergilio & Associates, an independent consulting firm that specializes in providing capacity building service to charities, non-profits and social purpose enterprises.  As a professional consultant, she has worked extensively with the boards and staff of local community agencies, regional and national charities, foundations, non-profit associations, and governments to improve their individual capabilities and build the capacity of their organizations.

She is regarded as an expert in areas essential to non-profit sustainability, such as:

Session Description: The COVID-19 pandemic has been a reminder of the importance of effective financial management to nonprofit sustainability.  This session is designed to explore non-profit financial management best practices and their value in informing decision-making and managing risk, especially during this time. The content for this session will be of interest to board members, executive directors and other senior leaders, finance staff and non-finance program managers.

Key Learning Objectives:

     Review financial management best practices for the pandemic and post-pandemic world

     Identify key financial risks and risk management strategies

     Outline specific financial considerations for the board, senior management, finance staff, and non-finance program staff
